Jennifer Fletcher, LMSW was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. The licensed medical social worker holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from the University of New Orleans. She also holds a master’s degree in Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans. Ms. Fletcher is a dedicated member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society.  She is also the proud mother of her eleven-year-old daughter, Zoey who was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease (SS) at birth. Ms. Fletcher serves as the Executive Director of Zoey’s Sickle Power, Inc., which she co-founded alongside her daughter in 2020. Her mission is to awaken the world to the truth about Sickle Cell Disease and address healthcare inequities.
Ms. Fletcher teamed up with the world-renowned Corey J. Hébert, M.D. to write this book with hopes to spread valuable information to healthcare providers, caregivers, and others.  “Sick·le” is a comprehensive guide that details her daughter’s experiences with Sickle Cell Disease in conjunction with sensible solutions to help end the sickle cell cycle.
Ms. Fletcher fights this fight daily. She is constantly educating, advocating, and providing support and care for patients that do not have access to factual, quality information. The expectation after you read this book is to 1. Find out your sickle cell status and 2. Sound the alarm that there are people in this country that are dying and sometimes worse, living in agony, unnecessarily due to the marginalization of their disease in the US.
